1. Choose the magazines you'd like to write for. When choosing the publication where you'd like to work in, it's important that you take into consideration your interests and your areas of expertise. You don't want to write for a sport magazine when you haven't seen one basketball game in your life, right? Choose those publications that will benefit from your knowledge and expertise.
2. Read and learn. Now that you've identify the magazines where you'd like to write for, the next thing to do is to read these magazines over and over again. This is the first step to understand their requirements when it comes to writing their articles.
3. Learn from the experts. If you know people who are now writing for magazines and who seem to excel in this field, don't be shy to ask them for tips and techniques. While others might not be open to this idea, I am sure that there are some, who were once in your shoes, who'll be happy to help you out.
