When you submit your articles to a number of article directories, more than likely the four methods of traffic generation come into play and you experience the very highest forms of traffic in terms of quantity and quality. You see, those are the main reasons why anyone, any surfer will come across your article. And when they read your article, they will either like or dislike your style of writing. If they like what they have read in your article they will click on to your website for additional information.
Don't get me wrong. There are other forms of traffic generation besides using articles, but for me, the other methods are inferior. Methods such as pay-per-click advertising; classified ads; purchasing traffic from expired domains; Using exit traffic; pop-ups; pop-unders; or any form of traffic generation that you have to pay for in advance - most of these are far mediocre to article marketing in my personal opinion.
An extra benefit to creating and submitting your own articles is that it helps you to become more disciplined; it makes writing new products easier and the quality of your articles gets better over a short few months.
How Long? - So, how long should your articles be in length or word count? If you are creating articles solely for the purpose of generating back links, then you need to read the terms and conditions of each of the web directories you use to ascertain the minimum number of words they will accept. For the purpose of creating back links a word count of 200 will usually suffice. If you are writing articles for the purpose of generating traffic then your articles should be 400 to 600 words in length.
Again, you need to look at the terms and conditions of the article directories you use. If you are writing articles simply to inform and educate people who are surfing the internet, then it is important that your articles are educational and give valuable information to the reader and that they are enticed to click the link at the end of the article.
